Best time to visit

May–June and September–October are the sweet spots: warm, sunny, swimmable sea, thinner crowds and lower prices than peak summer. The sea in May is still on the cooler side but the landscape is at its greenest after the winter rains.

July–August is the hottest, busiest and most expensive period — also the best for beach holidays and the Blue Lagoon. Winter (November–March) is mild by northern European standards and excellent for sightseeing and cultural trips, but cool for swimming and occasionally wet.
