What is St Peter's Pool?

St Peter's Pool is not a beach in the conventional sense — it is a series of flat limestone ledges, rock platforms and natural pools along the Delimara coastline, ending in a cliff-edged cove with deep turquoise water. The main feature is a series of natural rock platforms at different heights from which locals jump into the sea below. The water is very clear, very deep close to the rocks, and popular for snorkeling and free diving.

Getting to St Peter's Pool

From Marsaxlokk village, follow the coastal road southeast toward Delimara Lighthouse, then continue on a gravel track to the end of the peninsula. There are no buses — a car, taxi or rideshare is required. The drive from Valletta takes about 30 minutes. The walk from the road end to the pool is about 5 minutes over flat limestone.

What to expect at St Peter's Pool

There are no facilities whatsoever — no toilets, no kiosk, no lifeguard, no shade. Bring all food and water. The rock surface is uneven and gets very hot in direct sun; water shoes are recommended. Entry to the water is from the rocks — no sandy entry. Cliff jumping is done at the swimmers' own risk from heights of roughly 3–8 metres.
