History of Mqabba
Mqabba developed as a rural village whose economy was closely tied to limestone quarrying, supplying building stone used across Malta. Its parish church, dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady, is the centre of village life, and the village's fireworks factories and festa pyrotechnics have given it a strong reputation in this tradition. Underground wartime shelters were also dug into the soft rock.
